Doug Beaman, MD
Orthopedic Surgery Specialist
Dr. Doug Beaman is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at MCMC Orthopedic Institute. His practice specialties include ankle and knee joint preservation surgery, ankle replacement arthroplasty, limb lengthening, correction of lower-limb malalignment (malunion and nonunion), lower-extremity trauma care, osteomyelitis, and treatment of adult and pediatric foot and ankle conditions.
He graduated medical school from the University of Michigan where he also completed an orthopedic surgery residency. Dr. Beaman did a foot and ankle reconstructive surgery fellowship with Roger Mann, M.D., in Oakland, California, and did further training in the Ilizarov method. He began his orthopaedic practice in Portland at Emanuel Hospital, specializing in lower-extremity trauma and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Beaman currently operates at both Emanuel Hospital and MCMC and is the current head of orthopedics at Emanuel Hospital. Dr. Beaman is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of multiple orthopaedic societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Limb Lengthening and Reconstructive Society (board member), American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, North Pacific Orthopaedic Society, and the Oregon Association of Orthopedists.
Dr. Beaman has authored multiple book chapters, presented research at national meetings and published research in peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals. His main research and clinical focus centers on lower-extremity deformity, ankle arthritis and surgical techniques in ring external fixation methods. His research efforts have received grants for clinical outcomes studies.
